ALT ルーク先生離任式

5年間、本校のALTとしてご勤務いただいたルーク先生がこの7月をもって離任され、帰国されることになりました。夏休み前の集会に先立ち、ルーク先生から離任のあいさつがありました。

そのなかで、若狭高校で教師としての自分の力に自信が付いたこと、また、イギリスでも英語を教え続けていくつもりであることを話され、頑張り続けれは成長できると私たちを激励してくれました。

ルーク先生、5年間ありがとうございました。

Leaving Speech

Let me tell you a story.

I came here as a just-graduated 22-year-old. Some of the teachers will remember: I was very shy, and not confident in myself or my ability to be a teacher. I had heavy imposter syndrome.

However, with the support of the teachers and students at Wakasa High School, I was able to try my best to overcome my shyness and perfectionism.

Today, I’m a 27 y/o man who has lived and worked in a foreign country for 5 years !
I feel confident in myself and in my skills as a teacher. And I will continue to teach English in the UK too. In only 5 years I changed a lot. So, if you continue to try your best, you can change to become a better　person.

I’m sorry to be leaving as Wakasa has been a wonderful school to work at. I wish my highschool was as good as here. I’m jealous.

I will miss living in Japan, but I can hear the gears of fate opening the door to the next stage of my life. I will never forget the friends and lessons I learned at Wakasa high school.
