「探究Ⅲ」発表会

「探究Ⅲ」発表会を実施しました。普通科3年の生徒たちが、1,2年での探究の取り組みやその活動を通して身につけた資質・能力を英語でまとめ、発表しました。生徒たちは年度当初から入念に準備を進め、英語での発表を何回も練習してきました。その集大成となる発表会でした。

本会には、福井大学より、遠藤貴広教授、José Luis Contreras Silva先生 （教員研修留学生、メキシコ出身）
Uzuvira Tjomita先生 （教員研修留学生、ナミビア出身）、Damcho Wangchuk 先生（教員研修留学生、ブータン出身）、高橋尚生さん（教育学部３年生、若狭高校出身）が来校してくださり、たくさんの貴重なアドバイスを頂きました。

前半は、クラスの異なる生徒が集まって、小グループ内で取り組みを発表しました。発表後は質疑応答を英語で行いました。生徒からは「普段クラスの異なる人と交流できてよかった。」、「文系の研究だけでなく、理系の研究について学ぶことができてよかった。」といった声を聞くことができました。

後半は、各クラスの代表者4名が福井大学の先生方や学生に向けて英語で発表しました。質疑応答にもスムーズに対応し、スマートなやりとりが行われ、海外の先生方と生徒の両方にとって大きな学びがあった会となりました。

福井大学の遠藤貴広教授は「探究を自分たちの中でどのように位置づけているのかを表現できていた。英語で発表する中で、自分が何を学んだのかを見つめなおすきっかけとなる。英語を話すときは、「上手さ」よりも。「よく分かりやすく伝えようとチャレンジする姿勢」を今後もぜひ持ち続けていってほしい。」というご高評を頂きました。

‘Inquiry III’ presentation.

Inquiry III presentation. Students in the third year of the regular course summarised and presented in English the qualities and abilities they had acquired through their exploration activities in the first and second years. The students have been carefully preparing for the event since the beginning of the school year and have practised their presentations in English many times. The presentation was the culmination of their efforts.

The students were accompanied by Prof Takahiro Endo from the University of Fukui, Prof José Luis Contreras Silva (teacher training student from Mexico), Prof Uzuvira Tjomita from the University of Fukui and Prof.
Uzuvira Tjomita (teacher training student from Namibia), Damcho Wangchuk (teacher training student from Bhutan) and Mr Naoki Takahashi (3rd year student at the Faculty of Education, Wakasa High School graduate) visited the school and gave us lots of valuable advice.

In the first half of the session, students from different classes gathered and presented their initiatives in small groups. After the presentations, a question and answer session was held in English. Students said: ‘It was good to be able to interact with people from different classes.’ and “It was good to learn not only about research in the humanities, but also about research in the sciences.” I was glad to learn about research in the sciences as well as in the humanities”.

In the second half, four representatives from each class gave a presentation in English to the teachers and students of the University of Fukui. The Q&A sessions were smoothly handled and smartly exchanged, making the meeting a great learning experience for both the overseas teachers and the students.

Professor Takahiro Endo of the University of Fukui said: ‘The students were able to express how they positioned the exploration in their own minds. In presenting their work in English, it gives them an opportunity to reflect on what they have learnt. When speaking English, it is more than ‘being good’. I hope you will continue to challenge yourself to communicate clearly and intelligibly.” The students were highly praised.
